A New York City police officer was shot Thursday night in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, a spokesman for the Police Department said.

The officer, who was not identified, was taken to Kings County Hospital, according to the spokesman. No information had been released about the officer’s condition.

The shooting took place about 9:15 p.m. at 1606 Prospect Place, a two-story, brick residential building, according to the police spokesman and a statement from the Fire Department.

Details about how the shooting unfolded were not immediately available.

Last month, two police officers responding to a domestic violence call were left with non-life-threatening injuries when they were shot in the Springfield Gardens section of Queens. The gunman was killed.
